Voters Trust Democrats Over Trump on Economy
In this episode of Good News for Lefties, host Beowulf Rochlen highlights a series of encouraging developments that are shaping the political landscape as we approach the midterm elections. We dive into a Financial Times poll revealing that a majority of U.S. voters feel worse off under Donald Trump's presidency, with growing trust in Democrats to manage the economy and inflation. As the November elections approach, the poll indicates a five-point lead for Democrats, suggesting a shift in voter sentiment.
We also discuss Washington's high earner income tax, which is projected to generate more revenue than initially expected, potentially easing budget cuts for the state. Meanwhile, California Assembly Member Matt Haney advocates for the California Fans First Act to combat ticket scalping, aiming to protect fans and artists alike.
On the environmental front, conservationists are making strides in restoring Prairie Creek, leading to remarkable growth rates in juvenile coho salmon, showcasing the positive impact of restoration efforts on local ecosystems.
Additionally, Cheryl Reeve, head coach of the Minnesota Lynx, takes a bold stand for trans inclusion in sports, sparking conversations around the importance of protecting trans youth and promoting inclusivity.
