Banned Camp: Libraries Leading the Charge for Conservation

In this exciting crossover episode of Good News for Lefties and the Banned Camp podcast, host Beowulf Rochlen joins Dan and Jen to dive into the world of banned books and the latest news surrounding censorship. This season, they dive into "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood, while Beowulf adds a special segment focusing on the alarming trend of book banning.

We highlight a fascinating initiative in Oregon where public libraries are lending out trail cameras to help monitor the declining porcupine population. This unique collaboration between local libraries and the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife empowers community members to engage in wildlife observation and contribute valuable data to conservation efforts.

Amidst the good news, we also touch on the pushback from groups like Moms for Liberty, who oppose scientific inquiry and education in libraries. Beowulf warns of the potential consequences of ignoring facts and science, drawing parallels to the satirical film "Idiocracy."

Join us for a mix of humor, insightful commentary, and a celebration of libraries as hubs of knowledge and community engagement.
