Banned Camp: Librarians Unleashed and TARDIS Dreams

In this special crossover episode of Good News for Lefties and the Banned Camp podcast, host Beowulf Rochlen joins Dan and Jen for a lively discussion about the intersection of literature and censorship. This season, they dive into the iconic "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood, exploring its relevance in today's society amidst ongoing censorship debates.

We kick things off with an inspiring story from Charleston County, South Carolina, where librarian John Strasberg has built a life-size TARDIS, the iconic time machine from "Doctor Who." This creative endeavor not only showcases the fun side of librarianship but also emphasizes the importance of celebrating literature in all its forms. Beowulf shares insights on how librarians can embrace their nerdy side and foster a welcoming environment for readers of all ages, especially amidst the challenges they face today.

As the conversation unfolds, we explore the powerful role of librarians as advocates for free expression and the creative ways they can engage their communities. Plus, you won't want to miss Beowulf's playful commentary and humorous anecdotes throughout the episode!
